Doreen Bates of Medford had gained forty pounds and could barely walk from her car to the office elevator without needing a break. She was suffering from severe hip pain caused by congenital condition called hip dysplasia.
“The pain was like sugar in a cavity. I’d hold my breath and tense up. That’s what happens when bone hits bone,” Bates said.
After trying several non-surgical treatment options, hip replacement became the best solution.
“I wanted my life back. I wanted to garden for more than 30 minutes and play softball at the family picnic,” Bates said.
Bates sought the help of Dr. Enker after her sister, Denise Bieniek, and brother, Brian Bieniek, both received anterior approach hip replacements from him. She, like them, experienced the same quick recovery and was back to work a few weeks after surgery.
